Communication in Autism: HCSNet Workshop
This workshop will be held on the 24-25 August 2009 at the Justice and Police Museum in Sydney. It will focus on current research investigating the behavioural, cognitive, and neural basis of communication impairments affecting individuals with autism spectrum disorders, as well as research evaluating the efficacy of various intervention strategies. Topics include (but are not limited to) speech perception and production, grammatical skills, semantics, conversation and pragmatics, nonverbal communication, reading, and alternative forms of communication.
Confirmed keynote speakers include Prof Pat Howlin (Institute of Psychiatry, London & University of Sydney), Dr Morton Ann Gernsbacher (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Dr Jacqui Roberts (University of Sydney), Dr Andrew Whitehouse (University of Western Australia) and Associate Professor Lesley Stirling (University of Melbourne).
